Chair for a Little One
As an exercise in utilizing a large format CNC router, I chose to make a small chair for my son and my niece. The prototype ended up being the chair gave to my son, and the final version I flat-packed and sent to my niece in California. The design process was fairly straightforward. I wanted to make a small chair out of plywood. I needed to be sturdy as well as unique. The most prominent design feature I employed is the flying back rest which I refined in the second iteration. I took some inspiration from the Tolix chair in terms of form, but the translation in material necessitated some design solutions. Ultimately, the chairs are still too big for both my son and niece, but once they are big enough, these chairs will be waiting for them.
